JUNIOR DJ PROJECT

What is the Junior DJ Project?
The Junior DJ Project is a youth programme run by DreamCatcher Productions that helps young people build confidence, creativity, and life skills through learning to DJ.

What age group is it for?
The sessions are designed for children aged 6–12 years old.

When and where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place on Friday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Sea Cadet Building in Crawley.

How much does it cost?
The cost is £6 per session, but we encourage payment via a monthly subscription, which saves you money and time.

What will my child get up to?
Our main activity is digital DJ skills, while the session offers many other fun activities and games as well as electric drum kit, pool table, colouring and tuck shop.

Who runs the sessions?
Sessions are led by experienced youth leaders who are DBS checked and have many years experience working with children.

Is the programme suitable for children with additional needs?
The programme aims to be inclusive and supports children with additional needs where appropriate, with a SEND register and risk assessment process in place to ensure we are able to meet their needs.

Can parents stay?
No, as we operate as a youth club, sessions are a parent-free zone to encourage independence and confidence.

Can my child bring a friend?

We are always excited to see new faces at the project, and friends are always welcome. However, it's best to check with us first to ensure we have space.

Is there parking available?
Yes, there is a small on-site car park with plenty of parking available to accommodate even when we are running at full capacity.

How do I register my child?
Registration is required in advance via an online form or email, and you may be placed on a waiting list until a space becomes available.

Can my child perform at events?
Children who demonstrate the right skills, confidence, and attitude may have opportunities to perform at community events and showcases.

Is this a weekly drop-in club?
No, this is a structured membership programme that requires commitment and does not operate as a drop-in session. We expect commitment from our members to attend regularly.

What are the benefits of joining?
Children benefit by building confidence, learning new skills, making friends, and gaining real performance experience. We do our best to celebrate and incorporate national and cultural days of significance to further enhance our offer. We pride ourselves on developing life-time experiences that would not be available anywhere else.

Do you have a child protection policy?
Yes, we have a comprehensive child protection and safeguarding policy in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children. Our leaders undertake regular training to keep them up-to-date.

What provisions do you have for first aid or medical needs?
All leaders hold an in-date first aid qualification, and children with specific medical needs will have a care plan in place to ensure their needs are fully supported during sessions.

Do you have a behaviour policy?
Yes, we have a behaviour policy that takes a positive approach to encouraging respect, inclusion, and good conduct.

The Junior DJ Project is designed to be as inclusive as possible and our team have combined experience working with additional needs and complex medical conditions, however our sessions may not be suitable for all.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all children at the Junior DJ Project and ensure we can meet a child's specific needs we operate a separate SEND register. This is so we can undertake a risk assessment based on the needs of our existing members and the ratios of youth leaders to children to ensure we can accommodate a child’s needs
