The Junior DJ Project is a youth scheme we have developed to encourage young people to develop basic life skills through music. Learning to DJ helps children develop self-confidence, communication skills, and teamwork to discover a talent within. Our aim is to make music accessible to those that display an interest and create a fun environment for them to learn, challenging young people to set and achieve personal goals.
The project runs in the form of a youth group on a Friday evening open to young people ages 6-12 years old. Young people are first be shown basic mixing techniques before being presented the opportunity to develop through discovery and experimenting, working alongside each other whilst being looked after by our youth team.
The Junior DJ Project is run by volunteer youth workers and no longer receives any funding, we rely solely on the session fees collected and public donations to keep the project running, with the growth of the project we need to start thinking about replacing and updating certain pieces of equipment so we can continue to deliver our sessions and provide a vibrant and functional future.
On Saturday 24th May 2025, our youth group will be hosting a sponsored 12-hour DJ Marathon to raise money to purchase new equipment.
